Can you host a young person (age 14 – 21) as an intern this summer? As part of the City of Pittsburgh’s Summer Youth Employment Program, the Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center (ENEC) and the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC) are looking for quality work sites at businesses and organizations that can host an intern for a six-week program starting July 1st.
The youth unemployment rate (age 16 – 24) is currently over 16% in the nation — twice that of any other age demographic. In Pennsylvania it’s over 13%. You can provide productive experience to our city youth and receive valuable work in return for your efforts.
BCG will pay all wages, pay all workers’ compensation and liability insurance, act as a liaison between you and your intern and provide interns with work-readiness training. Your would need to ensure that the intern would receive a quality work experience for the 30 hours a week/6 hours per day that they work for your company/organization.
