‘Tis the season for outrageously ugly sweaters! From pop-up stores, to their own page at Amazon.com, to celebrity fashion wear, ugly holiday sweaters are a trend that will not die. In fact, demand for that perfectly tacky sweater has “skyrocketed” in the past five years, according to one retailer. If you have an ugly holiday sweater party in your future, why not make your own (and enjoy some great Church Brew Works beer while you’re at it).
The Society for Contemporary Craft is hosting a fun, Friday night event on December 13: “Ugly (Or Not So Ugly) Holiday Sweaters” as part of their Crafts & Drafts workshop series. The series pairs local beers with beginner-friendly projects. Visiting fiber artist Jennifer Moss will lead the festivities:
Needle Felting is a fun and easy process to turn loose, soft wool into just about any shape you can imagine! It can also be used to seamlessly connect wool to itself. Anyone can learn to felt in about 15 minutes! Bring a sweater from your closet or favorite thrift store to decorate and you will have the best “Ugly Christmas Sweater” for this year’s parties!
The tuition is $35 per person and includes materials and beverages (you supply the sweater). No knitting or sewing skills are required, but participants must be 21 or older.
