No matter where your interest lies, there’s a volunteer opportunity out there to match it. Pittsburgh Cares gathers dozens and dozens of volunteer opportunities from their regional nonprofit partners and lists them on their website. They make it easy for anyone to volunteer by allowing you to search by date through their calendar, or by keyword, or by proximity, or various other criteria.
The opportunities run the gamut. You can assist children with their homework, or volunteer at a library, or help refurbish and recycle computers. Too sedentary for your tastes? How about picking up litter, or helping start up a garden, or how about coaching kids in baseball?
The Pittsburgh Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program gives underserved youth the opportunity to learn good sportsmanship and teamwork in the competitive environments of baseball and softball. Pittsburgh RBI needs coaches, game day helpers and practice assistance for teams in Braddock, Carnegie, East Hills, Homewood, the Hill District, McKeesport, Northview Heights, Shadyside, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg.
