The Return of Pedal, Paddle, Peduto
Religious Institutions of Pittsburgh Ride

Posted by Maria Lupinacci on Monday, August 30, 2010

On Monday, September 6, 2010, celebrate Labor Day with Councilman Peduto and special guests as we take a leisurely bike ride around Oakland and Pittsburgh’s East End connecting the religious institutions that call the neighborhoods home. At St. Paul Cathedral, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Rodef Shalom Congregation, and the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh, we’ll get a guided tour of the buildings’ art and architecture, history, and role in the local community. We’ll also learn about the faith. We’ll go on to view the outsides of Shadyside Presbyterian Church, Third Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, Calvary Episcopal Church, Sacred Heart Parish, East Liberty Presbyterian Church, First United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh, St Andrew Lutheran Church and First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Special guests on the ride will include architect Rob Pfaffmann, and representatives from Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation and Bike Pittsburgh.

Bicycling experience is necessary. This is an easy ride on city streets.

Location: Oakland
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Cost: $20.00 non-member / $15.00 member
Organization: Venture Outdoors
